Charlottesville Summer Bucket List: Polo at King Family Vineyards

Welcome to Week 3! In Nest Realty’s Summer Bucket List Series, we’ll highlight five of our favorite summer activities in the Charlottesville area. Let us know which adventure was your favorite! Then, send a photo or leave a comment about your day in the sun. We hope these inspire you to love where you live even more than you already do!

The third must-do for this summer is to watch polo at King Family Vineyards. The vineyard invites guests visiting their tasting room to sit field-side and watch a game of polo―bring a blanket and some chairs for an afternoon of sunshine, great food and beverages, and free entertainment!

King Family Vineyards has a long history with polo. The founders, David King and Ellen King, prioritized searching for 12 acres of flat land in Virginia for polo matches before the idea of a vineyard even took hold. David King has played the game since 1980 and he wanted to share his love for the sport with others. Thus, the farm that holds both Roseland Polo and the vineyard encapsulates their goal to have a space where everyone could “live, work, and play,” according to the King Family website.

Matches are held at 1 pm every Sunday, from Memorial Day weekend through mid-October. Additionally, King Family Vineyards refreshments and products are for sale field-side; you can flag down the circling golf cart for wine, bottled water, and Roseland Polo hats. Check out King Family Vineyards’ webpage to learn more.
