During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Esther Giambalvo, a Realtor at Nest Realty The Triangle.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to The Triangle?
Esther Giambalvo: Originally from Puerto Rico, I lived in New Jersey until the age of 10 and then Florida until moving to Cary, NC in 2000.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
EG: I had my own Interior Design business and was working closely with real estate agents in the area, doing staging and helping their clients with design advice. I decided I could do both because one career really helps the other, they go hand in hand.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
EG: I started an interior design business in 2003. In 2011, I combined my passion for design and my love for homes. I can say that I really have an eye for space and how to make the most of it.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
EG: I like the boutique feel, a smaller more intimate firm. I like the philosophy and I LOVE the logo! I knew right then and there we were a good match.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
EG: I absolutely love working with first time home buyers, especially young couples just starting out. I love the excitement of home ownership, and the thrill of handing over their keys at closing.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
EG: My interior design background is very helpful for sellers who want to stage before going on the market. This is a complimentary service I always offer in my listing presentations. It’s also a bonus to buyers when I offer to come back after they settle in with design advice.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
EG: The Hispanic community in the Triangle area is growing by leaps and bounds and it has proven helpful to be bilingual.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
EG: Organized, Friendly, Energetic, Dedicated, Honest.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
EG: Oprah Winfrey of course! She has amazing taste and homes all over the country. I would learn so much from her along the way. My only concern would be, what do you give for a house warming gift to someone who has everything???
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
EG: Trust your gut, you will know as soon as you walk in to the home you are supposed to buy, it’s a feeling.
NR: What is your favorite season in The Triangle?
EG: I am fortunate to live in an area of the country where we can experience all four seasons even though we are considered ” the South”. I love the fall when all the leaves start changing colors and the air is crisp.
NR: Do you have kids?
EG: Yes, two beautiful daughters. Gianna 22 and Nicolette 20.
