Meet The Agent: Kim Miller

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Kim Miller, Broker/Owner at Nest Realty Roanoke.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Roanoke?
Kim Miller: I am originally from Madison, Connecticut. I grew up on the New England shoreline and it was a great place to be. We moved to Roanoke in 1993 after searching for a place to locate a business and raise our two young boys. Today we have two VT graduates and three grandchildren! And we still love to call Roanoke home.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
KM: I fell into real estate 15 years ago. I always had an interest in real estate and thought I would try it part time. After I got my license I jumped in with both feet and have not looked back. I love the fast paced excitement, from buying and selling to assisting with flips and investments. I love to meet people and help them through the process. It is rewarding and inspiring.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
KM: In my previous life I was a stay-at-home mom and then entered into sales and sales management. Sales was so fun for me and it really was exciting to help people. This cooperative environment really helped shape me for real estate and owning my own business.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
KM: Ohh, hands down when I found Nest I knew it was the right choice for us. My husband and I were looking for our next chapter and wanted to open our own firm. With Nest’s creative edge, fun design, and all around business model for myself, my husband, and agents, this was the only choice for me!

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
KM: Honestly, doing flips is my heart’s desire. It’s also the thing we do the least of. I love the whole process of creating and designing the house; from the demo to colors, it is truly my favorite part.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
KM: I would have to say I am good at helping and educating people. I have an education background and I love to help people. When I looked for homes before I was in real estate, I thought that was an area that could have been improved on. I also head up our mentoring program for new agents at our office.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
KM: I really think what sets us apart is that we truly care. It’s about doing the right things. About taking care of our clients and building relationships for life.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
KM:  Creative, intuitive, broad-minded, sincere, and loyal.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
KM:  My dream client is the person with a sense of humor, witty, kind, fun, and smart. I love what I do and I love to meet and work with fun people. Whether you have just won a mega jackpot or not, let’s have a good time and find you a great house or sell a great house.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
KM: Call me or call Nest. We can help you make a great decision on your first home. We will assist you each step of the way so this purchase is rewarding. We have the resources and knowledge to keep you on track and in good hands.

NR: What is your favorite season in Roanoke?
KM: One thing I love about Roanoke vs. Connecticut is the seasons. We really have four seasons. Spring and fall are my favorite. Flowers blooming and leaves changing on the nearby mountains–we have a great climate to enjoy inside and out!
