During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this in installment, we chat with Tabitha Furr, a Realtor at Nest Realty Lake Norman.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Lake Norman?
Tabitha Furr: I was born and raised in Concord, NC and have lived all over both Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties throughout my life. I graduated from UNC Charlotte with a History degree, and then married my high school sweetheart. My husband is also from the area so we have lots and lots of family around including our 10 nieces and nephews! We’ve been together for over a decade, and have two really great kids. I’m incredibly lucky to have the family and friends I do.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
TF: I’ve been a stay at home mom for the last ten years, and when it was finally time to re-enter the work force, I found myself sitting in a real estate pre-licensing class! My genuine love for the business coupled with the flexibility made it an ideal choice for me, and it was the best decision. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to help people buy and sell their homes. It brings me a lot of happiness.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
TF: I worked in admin before I stayed home with my children, so I definitely have some fantastic organizational and preparation skills! I use those at home a lot too, along with my impressive negotiation skills I use to break up squabbles and bickering that takes place on a pretty regular basis in my home. I hope you can relate!
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
TF: Nest Realty takes the business of real estate to another level, and their marketing stands out about the rest. I can appreciate the hard work and effort it takes to build a brand as polished as this one. It’s also not about the transaction here, it’s about the relationship with your client as the heart of the business. I love that! They’re also incredibly generous and welcoming. I’ve felt a part of a family from day one!
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
TF: My favorite part of being an agent is the possibility buying or selling a home can represent. Everyone’s motivation is different from first time home buyers, growing families, to growing older families…it’s so interesting to be able to work with people at every stage of their lives. New beginnings and fresh starts are my favorite!
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
TF: I was born and raised in Concord, so I feel like that makes me a great choice for anyone looking for a highly specialized knowledge of the greater Cabarrus region. In addition to that, I also have my Senior Real Estate Specialist designation, which just means I am able to help the senior population and their families navigate their housing options as they grow older.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
TF: I would consider myself a community focused agent, where I put my love and knowledge for where I live out there for everyone to see. Since I’m from the area I serve I am able to offer a unique perspective to my clients.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
TF: Loyal, Quirky, Thoughtful, Considerate, Creative.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
TF: Matthew Goode, he’s an English actor that I just adore!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
TF: Stay positive! Buying a house can be a bit of a roller coaster, so having the right attitude helps a whole lot.
NR: What is your favorite season in Lake Norman?
I love fall! Changing leaves, coffee on chilly mornings, football, bonfires, boots, and chunky scarves. I’m here for it all.
