During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Leanne Brittain, Managing Broker with Nest Realty in Morganton, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Morganton?
Leanne Brittain: I was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but moved to the Charlotte area as a child where I lived until I left for college at Western Carolina University—go Cats! While attending college in Western North Carolina, I met my husband and fell in love not only with him, but also with the beauty of the mountains! Chris’s family is from Morganton, and after graduation we moved to Matthews. For the next few years we’d visit Morganton on the weekends. After having our first son, Ben, we decided we wanted to raise our children in Morganton, so we moved from Davidson back to Morganton. We love having a friendly community and so much natural beauty all around us.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
LB: I’ve always had an interest in real estate, even as a child—probably because we moved several times. I still remember the name of the Realtor my parents used from all those years ago. I didn’t think of it as a career until after staying at home to raise my children, when I began looking for a new career. It’s interesting how my previous experience as an insurance underwriter, on-the-go-Mom, and my degree in sociology/journalism all come together for real estate to be such a natural fit. Each of those, as well as the many moves I’ve made in my life, have helped me become a top producer in my market.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
LB: What first drew me to Nest was the dynamic marketing, but what really excited me was the franchise owners, staff, and other agents’ passion for helping their clients succeed. I also love the emphasis they place on giving back to your community. Nest’s core values and culture aligned well with mine, so it was an easy decision to become a Nester!
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
LB: I love meeting new people and making new friends.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
LB: I’m a great fit for anyone relocating to the area. It’s a benefit to those buyers that I’m not a “local,” because I can connect with them and know exactly what they are going through and what they need.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
LB: Passionate, energetic, friendly, trustworthy, and driven.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
LB: Reese Witherspoon—she’s a hoot and I bet we’d enjoy the process!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
LB: To get pre-approved with a reputable lender and stay within the budget that you’ve established with your Realtor.
NR: What is your favorite season in Morganton?
LB: Fall—you can’t beat the vibrant colors when the leaves change.
