In this installment, we chat with Amelia Hinson, a Broker at Nest Realty Lake Norman.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Lake Norman?
Amelia Hinson: I’m a proud native Carolinian, born in Lancaster, SC. I graduated from the University of South Carolina and spent the next twenty years building my professional career, traveling the globe, and living in some amazing cities. My husband George and I moved back to the Carolinas about fifteen years ago and currently live in Huntersville with our two doodles, Millie and Belle. When not working, I enjoy golfing, sailing, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at the beach.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
AH: After graduating from the University of South Carolina in Business, I set my sights on professional advancement and achieved my career goals in corporate America. On my last flight back from East Asia, longing for home, I came to the realization that my real passion was about home and family. Growing up in a family of custom home builders then launching a real estate investment business with my husband, I realized this industry was part of my heritage and in the end, where I could make a difference.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
AH: For more than twenty years, I worked in the talent acquisition, recruiting industry helping people find meaningful work. I held various positions from recruiting, sales to executive management. I worked with executives managing large and small organizations and candidates of all skill levels and backgrounds around the globe.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
AH: I continue to be impressed with the Nest team, philosophy, and culture. I was looking for an ethical organization with strong values, high standards, and customer centric.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
AH: The People.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
AH: With more than twenty years experience in business, working with professionals across various industries, countries and backgrounds, I bring a unique perspective to the real estate industry. Selling or buying, I leverage market data, trends and facts to help my clients make the most informed decision on their real estate transactions. I feel strongly that you can’t truly be good at real estate unless you know your client. Anyone can sell or buy real estate but a trusted advisor and expert helps to make the best match to ensure many years of happiness and content with one of the largest investments a person will make.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
AH: My work ethic, strong business acumen, and customer-centric approach. Buying or selling a home can be a stressful event, I work with my clients to ensure a positive, professional, and fun experience. I’m transparent, direct, and honest. I come prepared to every meeting and do my homework to ensure I provide value to each and every client.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
AH: Trustworthy, passionate, even-tempered, positive, persistent, driven, dedicated, and fair.
NR: And clearly an overachiever! Ha! We love it. Next question, Who would be your dream client?
AH: A client that values effort, appreciates results, is motivated, and friendly
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
AH: Don’t settle…but remember nothings perfect.
NR:What is your favorite season in Lake Norman?
AH: Fall – Thanksgiving; I love crisp air and college football.
