In this installment, we chat with Claira Kelly, a Broker with Nest Realty in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Wilmington?
Claira Kelly: I am engaged to be married and can’t wait to tie the knot with my soon-to-be-husband this spring in Mexico! I love good food, good people, trivia night, and my perfect afternoon is sitting outside listening to live music. As a child my family relocated from England to Texas, where I grew up and went to school at Texas A&M University. I own cowboy boots, root for my Texas teams, and can give you a guided tour of the Alamo; but, I still hold on to my British roots and drink tea every day and love a good British TV drama. I moved to Wilmington about six years ago and fell in love with its charm, the beach, and the people!
NR: How did you get into real estate?
CK: I’ve always had a love for architecture and real estate, and minored in architectural history while in school. The design factor combined with the ability to create a home out of a house drew me in, and I love seeing people find their favorite space.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
CK: My previous careers have been in marketing and sales. I love creating marketing campaigns that can truly make a difference for my clients, along with being able to create new relationships and work with people. I am all-in when it comes to my clients, and I work to find the best possible solution for them, which I think translates perfectly into the real estate business.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
CK: The incredible service, the loving and vibrant people, the marketing tools, and the whole vibe of Nest Realty is exactly what I was looking for. They say when you know, you know!
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
CK: I love meeting new people and helping people find their dream home.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
CK: I live in the details, and offer endless hours of research, care, and expertise. I also love seeing the potential in a property, and how it can be transformed.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
CK: You get what you see with me! I’m honest, loyal, and will make the real estate process enjoyable and fun. In addition, the combination of my passion for real estate and passion for marketing keeps my clients at the forefront of the real estate transaction, whether they are buying or selling.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
CK: Thoughtful, dedicated, upbeat, sincere, and reliable.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
CK: Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco. I think he has good taste, so we’d look at some great homes, but more so because I’d be laughing the whole time!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
CK: Go with your gut, but be open to new things. Houses can be built, renovated, and modified, but you’ll know if you have that feeling of “home.”
NR: What is your favorite season in Wilmington?
CK: Every season has great traits in Wilmington, but I’d have to say early fall. Still perfect beach weather days, but a hint of chill in the evenings.
