Meet the Agent: Daphne King

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Daphne King, a Broker at Nest Realty Lake Norman.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Lake Norman?
Daphne King: I currently live in Huntersville, NC with my two boys, Luke and Gabe. I have lived in 7 states and 11 cities across the US. I attended Appalachian State University where I obtained my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Middle School Education and School Administration. I have been in the Lake Norman area for over 10 years.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
DK: With the number of moves as a child and as an adult, I was always fascinated with the buying and selling process, looking at homes, standing alongside the negotiations and having the opportunity to meet different people along the way. After being in the educational sector and then a Stay-At-Home Mom for several years, I decided to take the leap of faith, challenge myself and follow my passion for real estate.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
DK: I was a former Middle School teacher and a School Administrator. Wearing different hats, interacting with a variety of people of all ages from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds helped me understand people’s uniqueness, the importance of compassion, understanding different thought processes and beliefs, and knowing how to embrace the needs and wants of others. All of this has helped me transition into my career as a real estate agent.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
DK: The brand, culture and the importance of building relationships.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
DK: Creating relationships that last a lifetime.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
DK: I focus on working as a team with all my transactions. I am able to bring both parties together to create a smooth, fair and successful outcome where all my clients’ needs are met.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
DK: The quote, “Choose a job that you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life,” embraces my passion for real estate and being a real estate agent. I am doing what I truly love and I encompass this feeling and approach with every client.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
DK: Social, hardworking, organized, compassionate and positive

NR: Who would be your dream client?
DK: Fredrik Eklund from Million Dollar Listing New York. Of course this would be interesting because realistically he wouldn’t need me. However, with his high energy, his very outgoing personality, and his quarky antics he would make finding a home fun, amusing and very entertaining.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
DK: Relax, ask questions, and let me do the rest.

NR: What is your favorite season in Lake Norman?
DK: Fall for sure. Football, cool crisp evenings and my favorite – jeans and sweatshirts.
