During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Holly Martin, a Real Estate Broker at Nest Realty Asheville.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Asheville?
Holly Martin: Born and raised in Asheville, NC!
NR: How did you get into real estate?
HM: I fell in the love with the process of selling and buying my own homes. I absolutely loved all aspects of working with my past Realtor. Plus, I am married to a real estate attorney! There are a lot of conversations in our home around the topic of real estate.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
HM: I taught high school biology and coached varsity field hockey and varsity soccer. As a teacher and a coach you had to be prepared, organized, flexible, motivating, patient and have the confidence to work with all types of people. I loved it! Teaching prepared me well.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
HM: Name recognition, the marketing, website, people, office location, and innovative approach. I love that Nest has a presence in Virginia and in North Carolina…what didn’t lead me to Nest? I love all things Nest.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
HM: Time with my clients. You spend a lot of time together leading up to closing day. It is always a let down after closing not getting to talk or see my clients almost daily. Witnessing the excitement when you hand over the new key to a buyer or the excitement when you call a seller to let them know an offer has come in on their home…..
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
HM: I am passionate about either side—buying and selling. I love staging and getting homes ready for photographs. Love the paperwork side and helping my clients navigate through all the forms.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
HM: I am passionate about my job. I work hard for my clients from day one all the way through closing. I am patient and hard working, approachable. I am also an Asheville native, and have a deep understanding of the area and neighborhoods.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
HM: Organized, passionate, hard working, nice, and sincere.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
HM: My boys are into all things sports, so meeting Stephen Curry or any of the pro golfers on tour would be pretty fun for them! For me…Ayesha Curry!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
HM: Relax—I have this.
NR: What is your favorite season in Asheville?
HM: Fall!
