Meet the Agent: Joe Lewis

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.

In this installment, we chat with Joe Lewis, a Nest Realtor in Harrisonburg, VA.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area? How long have you lived here?
Joe Lewis: I moved to Harrisonburg in 2022 to be closer to the woman I was dating. She is now my wife, and she’s been an incredible blessing.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
JL: I’ve worked in multiple industries. I found that much of my success depended on my ability to engage with other people and serve them. I’ve also realized that working very hard can enable me to make a massive difference in other people’s lives.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JL: I wanted to treat clients with extraordinary care and respect, and I wanted to work for a brokerage that had the same goal. When I met the Nest team, it was clear to me that they cared about the people they served. It was also clear that they cared about their agents. I could tell that Nest was the kind of place where I could do great things.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
JL: My professional history has developed my ability to hone in on what clients are looking for, even when they’re not quite sure themselves. I thrive with clients who need help figuring out what they’re looking for. Real estate transactions can be stressful if you aren’t sure you’re making the right decision. My goal is to help people think through their needs before they purchase or sell property, so they’re confident and satisfied when it’s time to sign their name on a contract.

NR: What are five adjectives to describe you?
JL: Honest, driven, compassionate, resilient, sincere.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
JL: My brother, because I want him to move here!

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JL: It’s far better to buy a good house you can afford than a dream home that becomes a financial burden. Peace of mind is worth a whole lot.

NR: What’s your favorite season? Why?
JL: Fall. It’s beautiful, and quiet, and reminds me of things that matter.
