In this installment, we chat with Kathy Greer, a Broker at Nest Realty Wilmington.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Wilmington?
Kathy Greer: I am from Long Island, NY, and loved the weather and diversity of Wilmington.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
KG: I started as an investor. I “flipped” several homes and purchased many rentals before deciding to become a realtor.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
KG: I have had several careers; I was a stock broker, a store planner/buyer for a retail chain, I owned a cleaning company, I was a stay at home mom for a time, and I was a full-time real estate investor prior to becoming a realtor. I think possessing a strong financial background as well as personally purchasing and rehabbing over 20 properties in the area gives me insight into the different types of properties, and what to be concerned about when purchasing a property, both short term and long term.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
KG: I loved the friendly, family like atmosphere and wanted to work with like-minded, full-time professionals that work hard to meet all of their clients needs, while still balancing and respecting personal time.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
KG: The moment when a buyer finds “the one!”
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
KG: There is a time in almost every transaction when there is a bump in the road and I have a knack for keeping people calm, keeping things on track, and moving forward. And when things get a little more rough, with my experience I know how to think outside the box to make things work for all sides.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
KG: My vast personal experience buying and selling properties. I have personally purchased real estate from under $20K to over $2 million in multifamily, commercial, and residential properties.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
KG: Organized, creative, problem-solver, driven, and perfectionist.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
KG: Use an experienced agent.
NR: What is your favorite season in Wilmington?
KG: Spring—the weather is beautiful and the flowers are blooming everywhere.
