Meet the Agent: Kim Fisher

agent Kim Fisher

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Kim Fisher, an agent with Nest Realty in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Harrisonburg?
Kim Fisher: I moved here from Seattle in 2008 when Rosetta Stone hired me as a writer. I fell in love with the Shenandoah Valley, its natural beauty, and—eventually—one of its natives. 🙂 My husband was born and raised here and we feel so fortunate to be raising our family here.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
KF: I’ve been interested in real estate since I was a kid, so as soon as I graduated from college, I bought a home inspection business, which gave me insight into the market. Since then, I’ve explored the world, and now I’m excited to finally be living my dream!

NR: How has your previous career prepared you for real estate?
KF: As a home inspector, I worked with buyers to help them understand the condition of their prospective homes and to provide suggestions for how to take care of them. It was really a perfect stepping stone to real estate. More recently, my writing and communications career at Rosetta Stone and JMU strengthened my ability to ask the right questions and communicate clearly—essential skills in real estate—as every transaction is different.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
KF: The fresh, clean design of the Nest website was the first thing that drew me in, and when I met the team, I was even more blown away. Authentic, professional, friendly, and empathetic, they prioritized building quality relationships over numbers. It was the perfect fit for me and I could fully envision myself being part of the team!

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
KF: I love learning about people’s dreams and helping them find the perfect home.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
KF: Buying or selling a home can be an arduous and emotional journey. My goal is to help people navigate the process by making it a transparent and enjoyable experience.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
KF: Compassionate, purposeful, conscientious, dependable, and resourceful.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
KF: Joanna Gaines—so I could watch her put her design magic to work afterward!

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
KF: My husband and I are currently first-time home buyers ourselves, so I know firsthand what it feels like. I’d say, trust people to guide you through the process, but ask lots of questions (especially the ones you’re afraid to!). Also make sure to budget for maintenance, repairs, insurance, and taxes, and leave a comfortable cushion so you can enjoy your new home with less financial stress. Okay, that’s more like three pieces of advice, but there’s lots to think about! 🙂

NR: What is your favorite season in Harrisonburg?
KF: I’m all about new beginnings, and I love watching the valley come to life in the spring!
