Meet the Agent: Lisa Sharp

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Lisa Sharp, a Realtor at Nest Realty in Lake Norman, North Carolina.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Lake Norman?
Lisa Sharp: Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I made my way to the U.S. after my parents relocated to the Outer Banks. Since I wanted to live near my family, I petitioned my employer’s parent company, sourced a location, and opened and ran a U.S. subsidiary for them. After years of hard work, I became a permanent resident.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
LS: I’m from a family of Realtors (both parents), so I have lived real estate vicariously through them. I worked for them while at college and would accompany my dad to photo shoots and client outings. We discussed real estate at meal times and every vacation included house hunting (and purchases), both nationally and internationally!

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
LS: I received my Bachelor of Commerce degree with a marketing focus in Toronto and then went back to school for my BS and MS degrees at the University of Cincinnati and East Carolina University, respectively. I worked in marketing and communications first, which gave me skills that translated well to my real estate career. I also worked as an environmental consultant and wrote Phase I and Phase II reports for at-risk properties for commercial lenders. I’ve always wanted to marry my business/marketing and science backgrounds, and real estate makes that possible!

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
LS: I was introduced to Nest Realty in 2018 and silently stalked the brokerage, admiring their brand and community involvement. I was sold when the Broker in Charge added me as a Friend of Nest. Nest’s personal touches and community give-backs absolutely blew me away. I haven’t seen such quality marketing support in the industry (and I’ve been selling real estate since 2006!)

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
LS: I love the diversity, especially working with so many different people and learning about their backgrounds. I love the challenge of educating during transactions, keeping clients completely informed and essentially making their process seamless.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
LS: Accurate pricing for a timely sale! Savvy marketing, organization, attention to detail, and communication are also strengths.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
LS: I always like to discuss the process on the front end of our relationship, including potential property/market-specific expectations and issues that may come up.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
LS: Happy, dedicated, independent, dependable, and trustworthy.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
LS: Bono, of the band U2. I’d love to find him a spacious eco-friendly mountain lake home, including a sanctuary for homeless/abandoned, senior, and ill pets.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
LS: Find a process-driven Realtor with the heart of an educator. I love spending time with my first-time homebuyer clients. I offer the gentle guidance of a cherished family member, but with strong “behind the scenes” execution so they don’t feel overwhelmed. It’s an exciting time for them and I want them to enjoy the journey, while I manage the details.

NR: What is your favorite season in the Lake Norman area?
LS: Without a doubt, fall in the Carolinas! Bright, crisper mornings, sunny and breezy days fading gradually into mild evenings, green to gold and red foliage, fall festivals, and football!
