Meet the Agent: Liz McKinley

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Liz McKinley, a Broker at Nest Realty Wilmington.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Wilmington?
Liz McKinley: Originally from Colorado, I settled in the Wilmington area after attending the University of NC at Wilmington.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
LM: After doing several personal real estate transactions, I realized that I had both a passion for real estate and a firm grasp of the buying and selling process. With encouragement from friends and family, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and get my real estate license.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
LM: I’m a high school English teacher by trade, so I’m used to being in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. I’m goal-oriented, so whether it comes to test scores or sales goals, I am driven and efficient. Both jobs require strong communication skills, customer service skills, flexibility, and patience.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
LM: Jamie Russell, with Nest of Wilmington, has helped me buy and sell three houses. Through our interactions, I came to love the professional marketing options and the high level of customer service that Nest offers.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
LM: Teaching buyers and sellers about the real estate process.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
LM: After closing several personal real estate transactions, I know what I want in an agent—efficiency, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness, and that is what I aim to provide for my clients.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
LM: Trustworthy, driven, thoughtful, intellectual, and adventurous.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
LM: Imagine yourself living in the space. The home should make your life easy and comfortable.

NR: What is your favorite season in Wilmington?
Summer, for sure! Wilmington really comes alive during the summer with long, lazy days at the beach and fun-filled nights of live music and outdoor dining.
