In this installment, we chat with Mark Farrington, an agent with Nest Realty in Durham, North Carolina.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Durham?
Mark Farrington: I was born and raised in the area.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
MF: My best friend was getting licensed and convinced me to do the same.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
MF: I did catering prior to real estate. I learned how to be composed in a high stress situation.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MF: Nest was located in my hometown, which was important. Nest also is one of the top brokerages in the entire Triangle.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
MF: I love negotiations.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MF: Yes—working with real estate investors.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
MF: I am competitive and I want to win at the highest levels possible.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
MF: Competitive, tenacious, kind, calm, and creative.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
MF: Ferris Rafauli.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MF: Have a “why” before you buy.

NR: What is your favorite season in Durham?
MF: Fall.
