In this installment, we chat with Matt Lunceford Blivin, a Broker with Nest Realty in Durham, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Durham?
Matt Lunceford Blivin: I was born in Durham, raised in Durham, and now I live in Durham. And I wouldn’t choose any other place.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
MLB: What brought me to real estate is wanting to help foster community and a little push from my partner.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
MLB: Before real estate, I worked in clinical research at Duke. Working at Duke helped me realize how much I care for people on a practical level, and real estate is the perfect platform for that.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MLB: 501 Nest Realty is the top brokerage in Durham, and getting into a new career, I wanted to learn from the best and be pushed by the best.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
MLB: My favorite part of being an agent is being able to create deep trusting relationships with new people every day.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MLB: I feel like I have a great pulse on the Durham-Chapel Hill market. I am looking forward to getting my clients into houses and helping them sell quickly.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
MLB: My endurance, whether is is on the track or to keep going to achieve our goals.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
MLB: Energetic, thoughtful, earnest, friendly, and optimistic.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
MLB: My dream client would be Mike Krzyzewski. I am a big Duke fan.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MLB: I would tell them to trust the process. There will be ups and downs, but you will succeed.
NR: What is your favorite season in Durham?
MLB: I love the spring season in Durham. I love watching the plants peek out and burst with new colors. It is quite magical. (And thankfully I don’t have any allergies!)
NR: Duke or UNC?
MLB: I am a BIG Duke fan, but I did marry a UNC fan.
