In this installment, we chat with Melissa Moody, an agent with Nest Realty in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area?
Melissa Moody: I moved to Charlottesville in 2006 for a job. I’ll be honest, I expected when I moved here to only stick around for a few years and then move on. Clearly I underestimated how amazing this area is.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
MM: Buying my first house and really understanding the benefits, financial and otherwise, really piqued my interest.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
MM: I spent 20 years working in radio before coming to Nest. Working with all different kinds of businesses to market their services and grow their business translates right into the home buying and selling process. Constant communication and customer service have always been top priorities.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MM: I love Nest’s commitment to customer service and the way they innovate in the real estate field. The support and tools they offer their agents sets them up for success.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
MM: Discovering hidden pockets of our town and getting to know it, and its residents, even better.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
MM: My previous career taught me a little bit about a lot of things, and how to overcome all types of adversity.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
MM: Tenacious, friendly, loyal, driven, and honest.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
MM: Someone new to the area. Getting to introduce someone new to the area is a thrill.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MM: Understand that it’s a huge financial undertaking, but it will pay off in the long run.
NR: What is your favorite season in Charlottesville?
MM: I love to be outside, so I can find a reason to love them all.
