During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Suzy Stewart, a Broker with Nest Realty in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Raleigh?
Suzy Stewart: I am from Durham and have lived in the area for 30-plus years. I joined the Warren Realty team and they’re based in the Amberly office.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
SS: My brother-in-law, Gregg Warren, is a Nest Broker and was my Realtor. I actually enjoyed the process of selling and buying my homes, so I decided to help other people have the same experience.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
SS: I was the practice director for a Raleigh dentist for nearly 10 years. That position allowed me to sharpen my people, organizational, and problem solving skills. Disputing denied insurance claims required my attention to the smallest details while allowing me to help clients get what they deserved. It also set my expectation to be ready for a phone call at any given moment.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
SS: Fellow agent Gregg Warren spoke very highly of the entire team. He always seems genuinely excited and proud to work with Nest.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
SS: I enjoy being faced with challenges and working with people to achieve their goals. I’m a helper. Finding solutions to problems is what makes me tick.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
SS: I have lived in RTP for my entire 38 years and I am familiar with almost every area of Wake and Durham counties. I now live in Granville County and am moderately familiar with its cities and towns as well.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
SS: I like paperwork. I know, it’s unbelievable, but I actually like filling out forms when they’re not about me.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
SS: Outgoing, organized, efficient, creative, and positive.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
SS: Bill Murray is my spirit animal.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
SS: Prepare yourself to be competitive in a fast market, as many listings will receive multiple offers.
NR: What is your favorite season in Raleigh?
SS: Fall is the best! The days are warm, the nights are cool, and the colors of the changing leaves are gorgeous. Campfires, and hot cider, and the mosquitos are dead. I could go on and on…
