Honoring Our Local Heroes

By Kris McCoy

Serving others. You hear a lot of people say they don’t know what their purpose is. They don’t know why they are here. I do not have that problem. I feel that one of my greatest callings is to serve others. In many capacities. From a young age I have felt a sense of doing more than is asked of me. Doing more than I am paid to do. Exceed someone’s expectation of me. Doing everything I do with a passion to serve something greater than myself.

One area that I am very passionate with is our local heroes. The people who answer the call to serve me and my community, sometimes laying it all on the line to keep me safe. I am talking about active military members, veterans, police officers, deputy sheriffs, corrections officers, EMS, 911 dispatchers, fire, rescue, medical personnel, teachers and educators.

Hometown Heroes

These are our real local heroes. Everyone who goes into these jobs knows they aren’t going to get rich or have an easy life. It’s a hard tough life. They don’t do it for the paycheck. They do it to answer the call in their heart. To make this community safer and better. They don’t seek recognition nor praise. Just a simple thank you is all a local hero needs. I have friends that never came home from Iraq. I have buddies that never got to go home to their families after giving the ultimate sacrifice. I have friends who suffer from PTSD after serving several combat tours. I have friends so badly injured on the job that they will spend the rest of their lives in a wheelchair. They are everywhere among us, hiding in plain sight.

These heroes deserve all we can do for them. They deserve our best attention. As a real estate agent, I struggled with the notion of “what could I possibly do to give back to our heroes?” This is when I talked to my broker in charge and after months of discussion back and forth, we came up with the Nest Hometown Heroes Program.

Hometown Heroes

The program is designed to honor all of our local heroes by giving something back to them in their real estate transaction when using me as their agent. This program is a constant work in progress as we continue to add features that benefits for our local heroes. If you are a local hero, or you know a local hero who is in need of real estate representation, I would be honored to go above and beyond the call of duty for them. To find out more about my Nest Hometown Heroes Program, call or message me anytime. I would love to tell you about it!
