For the past 20 years, Fredericksburg has been the landing place for many of the government’s employees, contractors, and enlisted soldiers. However, instead of these transients moving away after retirement, many are deciding to call the Fredericksburg area home. With easy access to medical care, active adult communities, outdoor activities, rich history, proximity to major cities and low taxes, Fredericksburg has seen a boom in the retirement demographic. As the retired workforce looks for a place to settle and unwind, Fredericksburg’s easy pace and small town feel is a beacon drawing them in.
