Blissful summer itineraries to spark your travel bug
We’ve created an ideal one-day schedule for five of our favorite towns (Asheville, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, New River Valley, Wilmington). This week we plan out a perfect day in Charlottesville…the land of VINES & VISTAS.
Your Evening Itinerary!
DINNER + LAMPO
DUSK + SHOW AT LIVE ARTS
NIGHTCAP + COMMONWEALTH
After a leisurely afternoon, head back into town to Belmont, the small, eclectic neighborhood near the city center. You’ll enjoy an early dinner at Lampo, the Neapolitan style pizzeria that’s new to the scene and already a local favorite. The pizzas are authentic, robust, and truly incredible. Order the hellboy—a twist on a Brooklyn favorite—marinara, house-made mozzarella, and spicy sopressata drizzled with orange blossom honey. It pairs perfectly with the barrel-aged negroni: campari, cocchi vermouth, and greenbriar gin.
Stroll back downtown and into Live Arts to take in a show. The community theater, established in 1990, prides itself on presenting theater that is modern, rigorous, and risky. This summer marks 25 years of performances, and the summer series is shaping up to be another season of enticing productions.
Steps away on the historic Downtown Mall, enjoy a nightcap at Commonwealth Restaurant and Skybar. Their swanky Library Bar serves an impressive collection of craft cocktails. Each drink is lovingly created with fresh squeezed juices and house-made syrups. For something light and refreshing, order the 5th & Main, made with Virginia’s own Commonwealth Gin, house-made craft tonic, and fresh basil. If you’re feeling a bit dapper, sip on a CWS manhattan, as you look back at your splendid day spent amongst the vines and vistas.
