Great Expectations: Finding the Right Home

great expectations

There are so many helpful things your agent can do, that you might think they’ll be able to get you exactly what you want in a home without any need to compromise. But realistically, this is not the case for most home buyers. But your buyer’s agent is the best person to have in your corner as you navigate your great expectations and find the right home.

Depending on market conditions, you may need to be prepared to act fast—or you may need to practice patience. If you’ve done a good job finding an agent you trust, try not to feel too stressed about the process. Your agent is there to help guide you down the right path.

Remember your list of needs vs. wants? Be prepared to edit that list of great expectations if you aren’t finding anything that ticks all your “need” boxes. Priorities may shift as you become familiar with your home options.

Buying a house is a serious commitment any way you slice it. As you search for a home, therefore, you should be thinking long term.

Mortgage interest rates are currently low (2021), but as with many things, these numbers could fluctuate over the next five, 10, or more years. Homes could be harder to afford in the future. Consider that the home you’re buying now may need to last you a long time, since you may not be able to afford to move several years down the road.

Your agent will help you come to a zen place about the home search. They will help you find a solution that meets the highest number of your needs for the short and long term. Keep an open mind and you will find the right home!
