Meet the Agent: Mary Lou Webb

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this in installment, we chat with Mary Lou Webb, a Broker at Nest Realty Lake Norman.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Lake Norman?
Mary Lou Webb: I am originally from Hickory, NC. I transferred to the Lake Norman area through my previous career as a veterinary technician.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
MW: My husband is a mortgage lender and I desired a flexible schedule to spend more time with our 2 young children.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
MW: Veterinary Technician. It has trained me with a sense of urgency, dedication, work ethic, accountability & responsibility. How to listen to someones needs and concerns. I believe my previous career made me a more compassionate person to others and more understanding of emotional changes in someones life.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MW: Amy Fraser – she is a wonderful friend and was my go-to trusted adviser.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
MW: The flexibility of the job. My family is very important to me – so the fact that I can have them involved in my work is great for me. Both of my sons have accompanied me on showings and inspections when needed (only one at a time!). Also I love working hand in hand with my husband on a transaction. To have that flexibility to involve my family is so great!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MW: I am very organized with showings and can work on a tight schedule. I once showed 12 homes to a relocation couple that only had 5 hours to look at homes. I love planning out the tours – doing agent previews prior to the relocation buyers seeing the homes. It helps me be more prepared & have more knowledge of the properties.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
MW: I really enjoy this job and truly enjoy working with people. I am very hard working. I try my hardest to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible for everyone involved.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
MW: Kind, hard working, dedicated, compassionate and honest.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
MW: Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon – purchasing a vacation home together. I feel like the entire process would be full of entertainment!

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MW: Find a trusted adviser and ask lots of questions.

NR: What is your favorite season in Lake Norman?
MW: Fall
